ANNOUNCEMENT: The Cleburne County Library, as well as the Greers Ferry and Quitman Branch Libraries, will be open for curbside service only during our normal operating hours beginning Monday, May 11. Please be aware we will be closing at 5 instead of 8 on Thursday’s until we return to normal operations.

The Cleburne County Library in Heber Springs will have a table set up at the Main Street entrance for patrons who are returning or picking up materials. Patrons can request items at the pickup/drop-off desks, or by phone, and we will notify them when their items are available for pickup. We asks that you please follow social distancing guidelines while waiting in line to pickup or drop off materials. Inner library loan requests are not available at this time.

We had hoped to start allowing limited public access to the building, but safety equipment ordered for the staff has still not arrived. As soon as we receive the proper equipment, we will allow patrons inside in limited numbers to browse books and videos, and will allow a reduced number of public computer users (computer users will have to wear a mask while on the computer). Seating areas and meeting rooms will be off limits for the time-being, and all special children’s programs will remain cancelled until further notice.
We apologize for any inconvenience and are doing our best to balance the safety of the community and our staff with access to the library. We hope that this is all soon behind us, and we can return to normal operations. You can reach at (501) 362-2477. We will be open 10-6 Monday, 9-5 Tuesday-Friday, and 9-4 on Saturday. Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this unusual situation.

Cleburne County Library

After reviewing all of the recommendations, and carefully considering potential implications of remaining open during this developing health event, we have made the difficult decision to close the Cleburne County Library in Heber Springs, and both the Quitman and Greers Ferry Branch libraries. The closure is currently planned to coincide with the public school closing, and will continue until that closure is lifted. However, this is a constantly changing event and we will continually monitor the situation and adjust our decisions accordingly.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but feel that it is what is best for the well-being of our patrons, staff, and community as a whole. Until we know the full impact of this virus, I would rather look back and realize were overly-cautious rather than regret not acting as soon as we should have.

This wasn’t an easy decision, and I do apologize if it causes hardships to any of our great patrons. We are waiving all late fees accrued during this closure, so if you have an item at home, please keep it until we reopen. I encourage you to use our e-library as a source of reading material during the closure. We understand that many area residents cannot get internet access at their home. In order to help provide internet access to those with smartphones, laptops and tablets, we will be leaving our wireless network open 24 hrs daily at all 3 locations. Our WiFi signal projects into the parking lot at all 3 branches, and can be accessed without requiring a password.

We will provide updates through our Facebook page should anything change. Please be vigilant about hand washing and social distancing, and this will hopefully be over in a relatively short time. We hope you all stay healthy and safe. Best wishes to you and yours.

Director

Counties, cities encourage citizens to conduct business online

LITTLE ROCK — Today Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced the number of presumptive positive coronavirus patients in the state has grown to six. That number is likely to rise as state officials continue to track the individuals with whom these six patients have come into contact. Therefore, the Association of Arkansas Counties (AAC) and the Arkansas Municipal League (ARML) encourage Arkansans to conduct their county and city business online as much as possible.
